The Armenian Ministry of Emergencies announced that an explosion occurred in a shopping center in the capital, Yerevan, today.
The Russia Today website quoted ministry spokesman Heik Kostanyan as saying: "An explosion occurred in the Surmalo shopping center and a fire broke out as a result of the explosion, and there are injured, according to preliminary information."
The spokesman did not say if there were any dead as a result of the accident, nor did he indicate the number of injured, but he made it clear that teams of firefighters are working at the site.
