Tensions again in the Far East: a delegation of American lawmakers arrived in Taiwan today (Sunday), a few days after huge exercises by the Chinese army that took place in response to the visit of the Speaker of the American House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, to the democratic territory.

The American Institute in Taiwan, which is hosting the lawmakers, announced that the purpose of the visit is to "discuss US-Taiwan relations, regional security issues, trade and investment, global supply chains, climate change and other important issues."

The American Congress has once again sent a heavy-weight delegation to Taiwan, demonstrating friendship and fearlessness of China's threats and intimidation."
The authorities in Taiwan announced last week today (Sunday) that 66 Chinese planes penetrated the country's airspace as part of maneuvers by the Chinese army and navy near the country's borders, as part of the tremendous tensions in the region that followed the visit of the Speaker of the American House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, to Taipei last week.
