The Shenzhen Bay Control Point was shocked to reveal the smuggling of arms. The Hong Kong police classified the discovery of firearms and ammunition as a case of discovery of firearms and ammunition.
The source said that at about 10 am yesterday (13th), a driver of a mainland transportation company handed over a truck to a male truck driver surnamed Yang (56 years old) in Hong Kong.
Yang was driving back to Hong Kong from the mainland. When he passed the Shenzhen Bay Control Point in Hong Kong, he was stopped by Hong Kong Customs officers for inspection.
After checking the goods on the car, customs officers found that there were more than 900 declared packages of food, clothing and furniture, but also found 45 undeclared packages. These packages were sent to different locations in Alaska, USA, of which 3 were undeclared. The package contained a suspected rifle, a rifle guard and multiple rounds of ammunition.
The case is now handed over to the second team of the Yuen Long District Crime Squad to take over the investigation.
No arrests have been made in the case
The police said that they received a notification from relevant departments at noon yesterday (13th) that three packages destined for the United States were found in a truck at Shenzhen Bay Port.
The police arrived at the scene and took the relevant evidence for further examination.
The case was temporarily listed as "firearms and ammunition found" and was handed over to the Yuen Long District Crime Squad for follow-up. No arrests have been made so far.
