The bridge renovation on the B472 in Bad Tölz should be completed by the end of September - ten months late.
At the end it's hard for the drivers again.
Bad Tölz
– What was originally supposed to be done within a few months has turned into a real permanent construction site.
The work on the B472 bridge over the Isar in Bad Tölz should be finally completed by the end of September.
For the finale, however, there will be another big one for the drivers: the bridge will be completely closed for two weekends.
The Isar Bridge in Bad Tölz, built in 1981, is being renovated
As reported, work on the 132-meter-long bridge, built in 1981, began in May last year and was supposed to be completed by November 2021.
The structure will be repaired and the load-bearing capacity will be increased.
In the course of this, the bridge bearing, the road surface, the sidewalks and noise-reducing transition structures will also be renewed.
On average, 16,000 cars roll over the Isar Bridge every day.
However, two factors delayed completion.
The bridge bearings, which will be installed under the bridge, were delivered late.
In addition, a layer of epoxy resin that had been applied to the road had to be removed again because it was found to be leaking.
The epoxy resin is intended to prevent water containing chloride from penetrating the concrete.
Work on the B472 bridge in Bad Tölz on the home stretch
But now, according to German Abenthum from the State Building Authority in Weilheim, the work is on the home stretch.
Finally, as part of the transition structures, 16 meter long steel parts would be installed transversely at both ends of the bridge.
"It's only possible as a whole," says the site manager.
Therefore, a full closure of the B472 is necessary on two weekends in September, probably from Friday, 2 p.m. until early Monday morning.
The State Building Authority will announce the exact dates.
Traffic will then be diverted through the city center.
