At least eight people were injured when a bus was shot near the Western Wall in Jerusalem on Sunday night, several of them seriously.
A Palestinian suspect was arrested after turning himself in several hours after the attack, police said.
According to a paramedic, believers from the Western Wall were on their way into the city on the bus.
"According to a passerby, a terrorist started shooting at the bus indiscriminately," the paramedic was quoted as saying in the Jerusalem Post.
When the emergency services reached the scene of the incident, there was a great commotion.
People ran in a panic, it said.
According to the information, one of the injured was heavily pregnant, the baby had to be taken with an emergency caesarean section and was also seriously injured.
The attack came a week after a three-day military clash between Israel and the Palestinian militant organization Islamic Jihad.
Israel's air force attacked targets in the Gaza Strip, and Islamic Jihad fired rockets at Israel.
The Old City of Jerusalem is a focus of the conflict between Israel and the Palestinians, both sides claim it as their own.
There is always violence there.
There are holy places of Jews, Muslims and Christians.
The Temple Mount (Al-Haram al-Sharif) with the Dome of the Rock and the Al-Aqsa Mosque is the third holiest site in Islam.
But it is also sacred to Jews because there used to be two Jewish temples there.
The Temple Mount is under Muslim administration while Israel is responsible for security.
