The price-fixing committee in the governorate of Damascus has issued a new tariff for taximeters operating within the city.
A member of the Executive Office of the Transport and Communications Sector in Damascus Governorate, Mazen Al-Dabbas, indicated that the new tariff became 714 Syrian pounds per kilometer, 8780 pounds per time hour, 600 pounds for the counter opening, and 100 pounds the value of the strike, while the strike distance became 140 meters and the strike time was 41 seconds.
Al-Dabbas explained that the meters of taxis can be modified at the headquarters of the General Company for Electricity and Communications Works “Syrian Networks” Damascus branch in the Aisha River area within a maximum period of one hundred days from its date, indicating that a fine of 10,000 Syrian pounds will be collected for each failure to amend counter until the end of the aforementioned period.
Al-Dabbas pointed out that stickers will be distributed to the taxis with the written amounts to be paid by the passenger, in addition to the amount shown on the screen of the current meter, so that an amount of 500 pounds will be added to the meter bracket from 300 to 1000 pounds, and an amount of 1500 pounds to the meter bracket from 1000 to 3000 pounds, while The amount ranged between 3000 and 5000 pounds, an addition of 3000 pounds to it.
Al-Dabbas called on all citizens to file a complaint against each driver who does not comply with the specified tariff or demands an increase in the amount to be paid.
The committee for setting prices in the governorate of Damascus also issued a tariff instead of transportation fees for microservices, the Barzeh Al-Balad line, Al-Ashmar Square, and it was set at 500 Syrian pounds per passenger.
