The National Coordinator of Civil Protection of the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection, Laura Velázquez, added that they will not abandon the miners or their families.

She emphasized that Mexico's Civil Protection system is one of the most experienced in the world since the country is one of the most vulnerable to natural phenomena.

According to Velázquez, the El Pinabete mine faces extraordinary conditions due to its adjoining to the south with the Conchas Norte mine, which was abandoned approximately 30 years ago.
