From a technical point of view, nothing stands in the way of the start of the season in the Peißenberg ice rink: the defective engine is back in operation.

Breathe a sigh of relief at TSV Peißenberg: The defective drying system motor in the ice rink could be repaired again.

There was friction behind the scenes, however.

Peißenberg – the engine of the drying system is broken, ice preparation and the start of the season depend on the timely delivery of a replacement engine: That was the message that the TSV board and the technical director of the main club, Manfred Fichtner, announced at a press conference last week.

Now the all-clear has been given: the old motor has been restarted – by employees of the stadium administration in cooperation with two local tradesmen.

Instead of bearing damage, apparently only a sheet metal had to be replaced.

"We hope that the engine will last the whole season," explains TSV President Stefan Rießenberger.

But you don't want to rely on it.

When ordering the replacement engine, the following is stated: “It will then be stored.

This allows us to react at short notice,” explains Rießenberger.

So everything ok?

Atmospheric not quite.

Behind the scenes, there are complaints that the TSV management hastily commissioned the replacement and went public with the matter.

Allegations against which Rießenberger and his team vehemently defend themselves: "If we had said we would wait with the order, the criticism would have been great if the engine had not been able to be repaired after all.

Then it would have said: 'Why didn't you give the order right away'," said the TSV boss.

Vice-President Markus Heidler also sees no misconduct: "The customer service technician had found an error.

We had to rely on these statements.” The executive committee, which works on a voluntary basis, often has to make decisions quickly and based on instinct – “and that alongside work and sometimes at night,” explains Heidler.

For Riesenberger there is no question: "We did everything right in this matter." The TSV President also applies this to public relations.

Municipal subsidies flow into the ice rink year after year.

For Rießenberger this is a reason to be transparent with the operation of the ice rink, which is the sole responsibility of the TSV main club: "If we keep everything quiet and don't say that there has been any damage, then it means we want to cover something up. Rießenberger hopes that there will be no more damage reports by the start of the season.

At the end of August, the "season opening" of the TSV ice hockey division takes place with the team presentation of the "Miners".

Apparently, new contingent players should then also be presented.

The main association continues to demand that the "Miners" leadership submit a coherent budget.

"Everything will go well," believes Rießenberger.

And if not?

"Then the miners won't go on the ice."
