A 47-year-old woman, Patrizia Giunta, resident in Modica in the Ragusa area, died last night at the Messina hospital following complications after
gastric bypass surgery
to lose weight performed in a private clinic.
To establish what happened to the woman will now be the autopsy requested by her family, who asks to shed full light on what happened.
The death occurred in the intensive care unit where the woman had been hospitalized due to the worsening of her condition.
The post-operative, however, presented complications, with high fever and pain, so much so that an urgent new hospitalization was necessary.
The family members filed a complaint with the judicial authorities.
Patrizia wanted to lose weight and for this she had tried in various ways, without success.
She ultimately took a drastic choice and she turned to surgery by undergoing stomach reduction surgery to lose weight.

An operation that seemed perfectly successful but several days later she began to experience more and more widespread ailments that finally led to her hospitalization and her premature death at only 47 years old.
She leaves behind two children, one aged 20 and the other aged 18.
