The Commissioner of Police expressed great satisfaction with the actions of the forces that led the terrorist to turn himself in • The release committee approved his early release contrary to the recommendations of the police

The Commissioner of Police, Senior Superintendent Yaakov Shabtai, praised the security forces this morning (Sunday) for the fact that the terrorist who carried out the attack that happened last night near the Old City turned himself in - but it turns out that he is a former prisoner whose parole board approved his early release even though the Israel Police opposed this and his release to house arrest.

As mentioned, the police praised the action, Police Commissioner Shabtai said that "from the initial report of the attack in Jerusalem, the Israel Police and the General Security Service worked together in order to arrest the terrorist. As soon as the terrorist realized that the high presence of the combined forces of the Jerusalem District, the Border Guard, And the General Security Service will leave him no choice, he turned himself in to the police and was immediately transferred to the Shin Bet investigation. I want to say a prayer this morning for the recovery of those injured from the attack and that they will overcome their injuries soon."

Shabtai also added that "the Israeli police are determined in their war against terrorism and let every terrorist know that the long hand of the security forces will reach every terrorist. At the same time, it is important to remember that the combination of arms between the police, the Shin Bet and the IDF has resulted in quite a few thwarting of terrorist attacks and organizations to the attacks and this is the place to thank all the forces in the field.'

In the meantime and following the publication of the identity of the terrorist, it was allowed to be published that Amir Sidavi, the 26-year-old terrorist resident of East Jerusalem, is a prisoner on license whose license period only expires next year.

The police objected to his early release at the release committee and to his being under full house arrest with electronic handcuffs and the committee did not accept the police's position opposing his release at all, not even in handcuffs.
