The Russian space agency, Roscosmos, has set a new record for the number of Russian satellites it has recently launched into space at once.
Roscosmos said in a statement today, "All the Russian satellites that we launched on the ninth of this month with a (Soyuz 2.1b) missile have reached their required orbits and were controlled and communicated from the ground centers," considering that the launch of 16 Russian satellites at once was a number. A new standard in the aerospace industry.
The statement pointed out that the Russian satellites were developed in cooperation between the space industry companies in Russia and a number of universities, schools and educational institutions, with the support of Roscosmos and the Russian Innovation Support Authority, which resulted in the development of about 100 nano-satellites to be launched into Earth orbits.
Last Tuesday, Roscosmos announced the launch of a Soyuz 2.1B rocket from the Baikonur Cosmodrome, carrying an Iranian satellite and 16 small Russian satellites into Earth orbits.
