On the land of the Andalusia and Nasih Alwani gymnasiums, the central university handball championship competitions for males and females, organized by the National Union of Syrian Students in cooperation with the University of Hama and the Executive Committee of the Hama Sports Union branch, were launched.
The head of the National Union of Syrian Students branch in Hama, Farid Magmouma, told SANA reporter that the tournament is witnessing the participation of about 200 male and female players representing ten teams in the male category and five teams in the female category competing among themselves over four days to win the title, pointing out that the tournament comes within the plan of the Students’ Union to support sports. Students in various public and private universities, especially as they witness a wide participation of both males and females.
Ghamouma indicated that choosing Hama to hold a central tournament comes from being a stronghold of handball in Syria and has a history full of local and foreign titles and championships. once in the province.
In turn, the head of the technical handball committee in Hama Salah Al-Aswad indicated that the committee is working hard to establish a distinguished tournament by securing the gyms and referees and setting the matches schedule for the participating teams, adding that the first day’s matches revealed good levels and promising talents that will have a good future in the development of the game.
Teams representing the universities of Aleppo, Hama, Damascus, Al-Baath, Al-Raqqa, Al-Ittihad, and Qasioun will participate in the male category competitions, while teams representing the universities of Damascus, Aleppo, Al-Baath, Hama and Qasioun will participate in the female category.
