The Somali army announced today the killing of 14 militants of Al-Shabab, linked to the terrorist organization Al-Qaeda, in operations near the Mahas region in central Somalia.
Somali media quoted the commander of the infantry forces in the Somali army, Mohamed Al-Tahlil Behe, as saying that the army's operations near Mahas led to the killing of 14 militants, including the leader of the movement in the area, and that weapons and ammunition were found in four villages.
The Somali army has been waging a war for years against the armed Al-Shabab movement, which has claimed numerous terrorist operations that have killed hundreds of people.
