The Human Resources Management Association, in partnership with Syriatel, held today an introductory seminar under the title (What's new in the Social Security Law and Labor Law), with the participation of a number of human resources managers in a number of companies, private sector organizations, members and volunteers of the association, at its headquarters in Damascus.
The axes of the symposium focused on the importance of social insurance for the worker and employers, and what is new in insurance in terms of service inclusion, in addition to introducing Labor Law No. 17 and its features.
The Assistant Director-General of Social Insurance Ayman Al-Madani stated in a statement to SANA that it is important for the worker to know his rights, especially that registration in the insurance is mandatory for the employer and the worker, and it is the most important labor rights and social security that adopts the principle of participation and represents the state’s care for workers and has a set of benefits related to the insurance of workers in old age and disability Death and work injury insurance, pointing out that there is a project to amend the law after preparing a study on it.
The Chairman of the Association’s Board of Directors, Dr. Munir Abbas, explained that the symposium aims to introduce insurance and its importance for companies to raise liability for them, especially related to work injuries, old age, retirement and early injuries, pointing out that social insurance has developed significantly and there is a possibility to include service outside Syria through signed agreements in this field.
Labor expert and member of the association Rakan Ibrahim indicated that the symposium is important in educating the parties to the labor relationship and introducing their duties and rights and the importance of the obligations and rights of employers and the prohibitions on them, indicating that the law is a national system that achieves the public interest of society and takes care of the interests of business owners and workers together and is based on the principle of solidarity and social solidarity between Members of the Society.
In turn, the Director of Human Resources Department at (Syriatel) Samar Al-Halabi explained that insurance is a right of workers and has become a necessity in any work so that the worker feels comfortable, safe and guarantees his rights.
A number of participants pointed out the importance of workers’ participation in insurances in a way that achieves stability and reassurance for the insured and is reflected in his production and confirms his sense of belonging to his facility, as Lina Ja’amour and Omar Ajaj indicated that the law is important in the way companies and workers interact in a manner that preserves the rights of everyone and keeps pace with the latest developments in the field of insurance.
It is noteworthy that the Human Resources Management Association is a non-governmental and non-profit organization that works to spread the culture of human resources management in both the public and private sectors and to raise awareness of its importance as a strategic partner for business institutions in Syria.
