The Minister of Communications and Technology, Eng. Iyad Al-Khatib, inaugurated today the Zabadani Communication Center in Damascus Countryside, after rehabilitating it at a cost of 3 billion Syrian pounds.
In a statement to reporters, the Minister of Communications explained that the Zabadani phone center, which was out of service in 2013 due to terrorism, had a capacity of 20,000 phone numbers, indicating that the rehabilitation process began in 2020 until it became a building ready to receive equipment in 2021.
Al-Khatib pointed out that 4,000 telephone numbers have been placed in the center, which can be increased to 12,000, in addition to installing 256 internet gates that will be expanded to 1,256 gates.
Al-Khatib indicated that the opening of the center will have a significant impact on the economic life and revitalization of the tourism movement in the region. Therefore, all the telephone centers in the exotic northern region of Damascus have all returned to service, revealing that the Khan Sheikhoun Center will soon be opened on the 6th of next October.
Al-Khatib pointed out that the ministry seeks, as part of its plan, to restore all the telephone centers that were destroyed by terrorism to what they were before the war, using modern technologies, and within the equipment in the centers or the equipment that will be supplied in the coming decades.
For his part, the Governor of Damascus Countryside, Safwan Abu Saada, praised the heroism of the Syrian Arab Army, which restored security and safety to the Zabadani area, and the role of those in charge of the work and technical workshops working in the field of communications, with the return of the center to work, proving to the world that Syria is incapable of death, praising the cooperation of the people of Zabadani with the state in the reconstruction of what was destroyed by terrorism In which.
For his part, the director of the Syrian Telecom Company, Eng. Seif El-Din Al-Hassan, explained that the center suffered great damage due to terrorism, especially in the structural body of the building and was providing its services to 21,000 telephone numbers and 3,200 internet portals. After the area was liberated in 2017, thanks to the army’s championships, the technical teams in the company evaluated The damages were then reconstructed, the equipment secured for the center, and 4,000 telephone numbers and 265 gates were restored, and the expansion will take place gradually.
Head of the Zabadani Telephone Center, Eng. Adnan Diab, pointed out the importance of re-working the center to serve the people of the area, as the telecommunications service, along with other services, is one of the factors that encourage people to return to their areas.
