, and I smiled when I saw this simple image which, by the grace of an artist, took on a form of comic beauty.
The greatest creators awaken our gaze on the world, as if it were the world that resembled their works.
Sempé's genius knew, better than any other, how to capture the involuntary drolleries of married life, the follies of town planning, the behavior of vacationers on a beach or of a group of executives at a seminar.
His design placed a smile on the most banal things that gave them meaning and made life less gloomy.
