In order to prevent stretch marks, many pregnant women or mothers will use anti-stretch marks products.

However, the Consumer Council tested 30 products, and found that more than 30% of the samples were found to have fragrance allergens, and another 4 models were found to have artificial musk substances or plasticizers. Among them, COLLISTAR had the highest total musk substances and was also tested. A small amount of plasticizer is produced, so the score is the lowest among the samples.

The Consumer Council pointed out that since some products can be used on the breasts of mothers, they may increase the risk of oral intake of related substances by infants and young children.

At the same time, animal studies have shown that repeated oral intake of high doses of plasticizers (DINP) may affect the liver and kidneys of rats.

The latest issue of the Consumer Council's "Choice" monthly tested 30 anti-stretch mark products, including 12 anti-stretch mark oils and 18 anti-stretch mark creams, with prices ranging from about 90 to 570 yuan.

CLARINS care oil fragrance with the highest total amount of allergens

The Consumer Council found that among the 30 samples tested, 14 were detected with different types and concentrations of allergens to spices, of which 11 samples were found to have a higher total amount of allergens, ranging from 0.11% to 1.43%. The highest is CLARINS care oil, followed by mámbino organics organic stretch mark repair cream, up to 1.31%.

Over 40% of 3 or more fragrance allergens detected

Of the 14 samples with spice allergens detected, more than 40% were found to have 3 or more spice allergens.

Among them, Bio-Oil detected 9 kinds of fragrance allergens; ELEMIS and WELEDA also detected 7 kinds and 5 kinds of fragrance allergens respectively.

In addition, SOVOS, Neal's Yard Remedies massage oil, and CLARINS care oil also detected 3 fragrance allergens.

The Consumer Council pointed out that if the samples detected a high content and variety of allergens to spices, repeated use on different parts of the body every day may easily increase the occurrence of allergic skin reactions.

3 types of artificial musk COLLISTAR detected the highest total

In addition, artificial musk substances were detected in 3 cream samples, ranging from 0.0006% to 0.0374%, including Noodle & Boo, American Yaer Massage Cream, and COLLISTAR.

Among them, the total amount of musk substances detected by COLLISTAR was the highest, exceeding 0.05%, and at the same time, musk tona was detected.

The Consumer Council explained that the three samples all indicated that the products can be used on the breasts of mothers, so they may increase the risk of oral intake of related substances by infants and young children. A model with a lower content of artificial musk or related substances is produced to reduce possible health risks to fetuses and infants.

Two samples detected plasticizers

The Council also found that Neal's Yard Remedies Nourishing Cream and COLLISTAR contained trace amounts of plasticizers DINP and DEP, at 0.0008% and 0.002%, respectively.

The Council pointed out that both samples indicated that the product could be used on the chest or breast area, or to increase the chance of infants and young children ingesting plasticizers through breastfeeding.

At the same time, animal studies have shown that repeated oral intake of high doses of DINP may affect the liver and kidneys of rats. Due to the immature metabolic development of fetuses or infants Stages of repeated exposure to musk substances and plasticizers have begun, and their long-term potential health effects still require more research.
