Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel and his Tottenham Hotspur counterpart Antonio Conte have been charged by the Football Association (FA) following their confrontation after Sunday's Premier League draw at Stamford Bridge.

The two coaches shook hands after the 2-2 draw in which tempers flared, but then clashed on the pitch before being separated by players and staff from both teams.

Referee Anthony Taylor also showed red cards to both trainers as a result of the fight.

"It is alleged that the behavior of both managers was inappropriate after the end of the match," the FA said in a statement.

The two have until this Thursday to respond to the accusations.

Tuchel accused Taylor and the video assistant referee (VAR) of making poor decisions that ultimately helped Spurs walk out of Stamford Bridge with a point.

In the post-match press conference, Tuchel lamented the "huge misunderstanding of situations" and said that "it would be better" if Taylor stopped refereeing Chelsea games.

Shortly after the match, fans launched an online petition calling for Taylor to no longer manage Chelsea games, and it has already received more than 122,000 signatures.

Although Tuchel and Conte were involved in a heated exchange, the two coaches were relatively calm after the game and said they had no hard feelings.

Conte, a former Chelsea manager, even mocked Tuchel on Instagram, saying he was glad he hadn't seen the German celebrating the second goal running down the flank as "tripping you would have been well deserved".
