Yesterday (15th) at around 6pm, a giant iron gate collapsed at Yau Ma Tei Maternal and Child Health Centre, hitting a female security guard surnamed Wei (43 years old), who suffered serious injuries including the back of her head and was sent to Queen Elizabeth Hospital After the rescue operation, it was postponed to 0:13 am today (16th), and finally died.
The police classified the case as an "industrial accident" and officers from the Yau Ma Tei Division are investigating the incident.
The scene is Yau Ma Tei Maternal and Child Health Centre, 10 Yan Cheung Road, Yau Ma Tei.
The incident happened at about 6:07 yesterday evening. When a female security guard surnamed Wei (43 years old) was about to close an iron gate about 4.7 meters by 2.5 meters, the gate suddenly collapsed. She could not escape and was pressed by the gate on the spot. In the middle, he lost consciousness. Several nearby security guards hurriedly called the police, and worked together to lift the iron gate to rescue Wei Fu.
She regained consciousness for a while, but suffered a trauma to the back of her head, a broken hand, and multiple injuries. She was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital by ambulance for emergency surgery. The situation has been repeated.
After the accident, the Industrial Casualty Rights Association also expressed concern about the incident and requested the Labour Department to thoroughly investigate the cause of the accident and publish the investigation report.
