Today, the Ministry of Industry honored the first batch of graduate students at the Ministry’s Vocational Training and Rehabilitation Center in the industrial city of Adra in Damascus countryside, after they followed a three-month course on “plastic granule production and the plastic industry.”

Minister of Industry Ziad Sabbagh stressed the importance of training courses and their specificity at work sites and the need to expand training centers to help industrialists in all sectors rehabilitate technical workers and companies alike, which is reflected positively on performance and product quality.

Minister Sabbagh indicated that qualification and training is one of the main topics that are being worked on in the ministry, especially after the significant decline in technical expertise that affected public and private institutions and companies due to the conditions of the war that Syria went through, pointing out the importance of not limiting training to machines and production lines, but rather that it should include the aspect Administrative too.

The director of the industrial city in Adra Faris Fares pointed to the necessity of partnership with the industrialists who opened their laboratories for the courses and trainees, calling for benefiting from this experience so that the graduation of this batch would be the beginning of a road to achieving the required goals professionally and filling the shortage of technical expertise in the current period.

For his part, the Vice President of the Damascus and Rural Chamber of Industry Louay Nahlawi stressed the development of the skills of the workforce because of its impact on the efficiency and productivity of work and being one of the main influences in stimulating the national economy, while the Chamber’s Secretary, Muhammad Akram Al-Hallaq, stressed the importance of implementing training plans and programs effectively to supplement the sector Industrial cadres capable of production.

Hossam Abdeen, a member of the Chamber's office, called for the necessity of the courses to include enhancing the knowledge and skill of human cadres in the field of occupational safety and health through two tracks, "Practice and Professional", and enhancing their application in establishments.

The honoring and the distribution of certificates were attended by the Director of the Training and Vocational Rehabilitation Center at the Ministry of Industry Firas Zakaria, the Director of Industry in Adra Industrial City, a number of its board members, representatives of a number of companies in which training was conducted and the training staff at the center.

During a meeting following the honoring, the occupational safety and health of workers and coordination with industrial establishments were discussed to nominate a person from each facility and train him on the basic principles of occupational safety, provided that he is able to manage, educate and train workers, in addition to discussing the adoption of a form circulated to companies and industrial facilities in the city to determine each company’s needs of courses.
