The shootings that interrupted the joy: Three people were injured last night (Sunday) in a shooting incident at Six Flags Park in Gurney, Illinois.
The shots were fired from a single vehicle that stopped near the park and fled the scene immediately after the incident.
The emergency services quickly arrived at the scene and evacuated two people to the hospital, while one of the injured refused to receive treatment.
Large police forces arrived at the scene and are looking for evidence at the scene that will help reach the shooter and understand the motive behind his actions.
The Lake County Sheriff's Office said it would assist in the investigation.
The shooting caused panic and confusion in the complex at the height of a busy Sunday.
Videos uploaded to Twitter showed people fleeing and trying to find shelter.
An eyewitness at the scene said that she was standing in line for the "Raging Bull" facility when the shooting started and the panic began.
"One of the workers said that shooting had started, everyone pressed and started running at once towards the exits. There were people who literally jumped over the fence. People were almost run over by the crowd. It was just crazy" recalls one of the park visitors of the difficult moments.
