Today, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Faisal Miqdad, received the credentials of Boubacar Diallo, the non-resident, plenipotentiary and extraordinary ambassador of the Republic of Mali to the Syrian Arab Republic.

During the meeting, they discussed bilateral relations between Syria and Mali and ways of enhancing them in various fields for the benefit of the two friendly peoples and countries.

Minister Miqdad welcomed the appointment of Diallo as Mali's ambassador to Syria, wishing him success in performing his duties in strengthening relations between the two friendly countries and peoples, stressing Syria's keenness on the best relations with the Republic of Mali in particular and the African Union countries in general.

Minister Miqdad pointed out the need to stand united in the face of the old and new colonial forces, and that the challenges facing Mali are similar to the challenges facing Syria, especially in terms of the illegitimate unilateral coercive measures imposed on them due to the adherence of their peoples to the sovereignty of the two countries and the independence of their decisions.

Minister Miqdad also condemned the French interventions in Mali, describing them as a new attempt to occupy and restore its hegemony and control over the African Union countries. He said that France supported terrorism and terrorists in Syria with money and weapons and encouraged separatists, and that French interference in the internal affairs of Syria and Mali must stop.

For his part, Ambassador Diallo expressed his happiness at his appointment as a non-resident ambassador to his country in Damascus, stressing Mali's keenness to strengthen its relations with Syria and develop joint cooperation with it in all fields.

Ambassador Diallo affirmed Mali's support for Syria in its war on terrorism and that what it is doing is for the sake of the region and the world as a whole, and expressed his happiness that President Bashar al-Assad's approach to supporting the independence and positions of the African Union countries has not stopped.

The meeting was attended from the Syrian side by Dr. Ghassan Obeid, Director of Communication and Ceremonies Department, Dr. Abdullah Hallaq, Director of the Executive Support Department, Dr. Ramiz Al-Ra'i, Director of the Afro-Asian Department, Oceania and Wissam Al-Nahhas from the Minister's Office, and from the financial side, the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Mali in Syria Amal Ghazi and Counselor Fatoumata Deko.
