Founded just a year ago, the Mittenwald Bike Club already has 165 members.

Now he has opened his bike course - a temporary pleasure.

Mittenwald

– you all know that it is a temporary project.

Nevertheless, those responsible for the Mittenwald Bike Club, which was founded in 2021, decided to build a training course for their athletes on the site of the former indoor pool meadow.

On Sunday, the BCM, which now has 165 members - including almost 50 children and young people - officially opened the 2200 square meter site.

"The interest of the cycling fraction is great," emphasized club boss Heinz Pfeffer.

"We want to promote the leisure activities for mountain bikers, e-bikers, racing cyclists and leisure cyclists under the motto 'Fun with nature- and environmentally friendly biking'." ) and tables (hills) for insurance reasons only members are allowed.

This was followed by Pfeffer's praise to the community for their willingness to give up the property for a limited period, to the construction companies for the gravel and sand donations, as well as to Schloss Elmau for the financial support and Sternwirtin Petra Musch for the donated grilled meat.

Second Mayor Georg Seitz acknowledged the initiative shown by the BCM.

“You hit the nail on the head with this project.

Although you know that everything is limited here, you have set another piece of the jigsaw puzzle for youth work in Mittenwald.”

But the club doesn't want to rest on its laurels.

Workshops and events on driving technique and safety are being planned.

In addition, at the biker regulars' table - every Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Dekan-Karl-Platz - solutions for nature- and environmentally friendly biking in the Upper Isar Valley are sought.

The youngsters are also coached by Dominik Langrehr (54), Georg Hirschauer (49) and Jürgen Jutzeler (38).

All three need a license for this.

This must be acquired and recognized by the German Olympic Sports Association (DOSB).

After Heinz Pfeffer's "start free" the facility belonged to the youth.

Pfeffer's son Luis made the highest jumps.

On his bike he was the only one to show a jump over the wooden ramp with the "whip".

"The rear part of the bike has to be positioned diagonally in the air," explains the twelve-year-old.

He started this sport at the age of seven.

Now he practices two or three times a week.

In the meantime, parents and relatives could follow the sporting activities of their children and grandchildren from the benches and tables set up under the trees.

The great interest at the opening ceremony made one thing more than clear to the organizers: their idea struck a chord with the biker community in the Upper Isar Valley.
