Fraudsters, especially older people, try to cheat their savings with shock calls.
But a senior from Munich was not fooled.
Munich – It is a perfidious scam that scammers use to try to steal a lot of money from people.
Elderly people in particular are often targeted by criminals.
In doing so, they pretend that a close relative of the victim has an emergency – for example, a serious injury or a car accident.
The fraudsters pretend to be representatives of the police or public prosecutor's office and demand a high deposit, which an alleged representative of the law then collects from the victims - in cash.
Unfortunately, older people keep falling for these so-called call center scammers - but not a lady from Munich.
Only at the end of July did a pensioner fall for such a scam – and lost more than 400,000 euros.
Senior woman from Munich sees through attempted fraud – and takes action
According to the police press release, a 70-year-old woman from Munich received a call on Thursday, August 11.
An unknown woman was on the phone posing as a police officer.
She stated that the pensioner's daughter was in custody and could only be released on bail.
However, the woman from Munich saw through the scam and instructed her husband to call the police at the same time as the phone call.
He dialed the emergency number 110 – and the elderly woman kept up the conversation with the alleged police officer.

Call center fraud fails thanks to attentive Munich woman
And the pensioner wasn't done with the scammers: she pretended to the woman on the phone that she allegedly withdraws money from the bank.
She stayed in constant telephone contact with the scammer.
When the 70-year-old returned home, she was instructed to hand the cash to a prosecutor at the door.
This one would be over soon.
That's how it happened - except that the man didn't find a terrified pensioner with a wad of cash, but the police, who arrested him immediately.
The man is a 34-year-old Pole with no permanent residence in Germany.
He was transferred to the detention center of the Munich police headquarters.
Investigations are now underway – connections are also being checked for similar acts.
