Russian forces targeted a base of foreign mercenaries in the Kharkov region, northeastern Ukraine, which led to the death and injury of more than 150 people.
"The Russian Air Force targeted with high-precision weapons a temporary deployment point for foreign mercenaries in the town of Zuzchev in the Kharkov region, where more than 100 militants were killed and more than 50 others who came from Poland and Germany were wounded," Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Lieutenant-General Igor Konashenkov said in a press briefing today. Russian air strikes also killed more than 160 extremists in the Kherson region and more than 260 others on the territory of the Donetsk Republic.
Konashenkov added that the Russian forces eliminated with artillery fire more than 70 percent of the personnel of the 3rd battalion of the 66th Ukrainian mechanized brigade near the town of Marinka in Donetsk, while more than 50 percent of the personnel and military equipment of the 15th battalion of the 58th mechanized infantry brigade on the Solidar axis in Donetsk were eliminated. He also pointed out that air, missile and artillery strikes hit the two command centers of two Ukrainian brigades, as well as forces, weapons and military equipment, including those of extremist battalions, in a number of regions of Kharkov, Donetsk, Dnepropetrovsk and the city of Nikolayev.
Konashenkov indicated that a depot of missile and artillery weapons was destroyed in the Nikolaev region, three ammunition depots in Donetsk and two fuel depots in the Kharkov region, while a platoon of Msta-B guns was hit in Donetsk, and three platoons of Grad rocket launchers and four platoons of (Gyatsent B) guns were destroyed. And three platoons of howitzers in Donetsk and Kherson.
Konashenkov indicated that the Russian air defenses shot down three Ukrainian drones during the past 24 hours, stressing that the total that has been destroyed since the beginning of the special military operation amounted to 267 Ukrainian planes, 148 helicopters, 1,741 drones, 365 anti-aircraft missile systems, 4,311 tanks and other armored vehicles, and 799 missile launchers. And 3304 pieces of field guns and mortars, and 4,891 military vehicles.
