China announced on Monday that it has organized new military exercises around Taiwan, where five American parliamentarians are currently visiting.

The new demonstration comes as a delegation of US congressmen arrived in Taiwan on Sunday for an unannounced visit, according to a US diplomatic source on the island.
Five people - a senator and four representatives, Democrats and Republican - are expected to remain on the island until Monday, according to the American Institute in Taiwan, the de facto US embassy.

A few days earlier, China lent itself to the most important military maneuvers ever carried out by Beijing around Taiwan, in response to a visit by the speaker of the American House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi.
Taipei accused China of using the visit as a pretext to practice an invasion.
