As part of the ranking, the Hebrew University rose 13 places and was ranked 77th this year. This is also a jump for the Technion - this is an increase of 11 points compared to last year, when the Technion was ranked 94th.

Since 2012, the Technion has been consistently ranked in the Top 100 list of the Shanghai Index, and the current ranking is the highest the Technion has received in the last four years.

The list of the five leading universities in the world is opened by Harvard, followed by Stanford, MIT, Cambridge, and Berkeley in California.

The Shanghai index, which is published every year, is considered one of the most reliable rankings in the field of academia.

The rankings relate to the quality of research in the academic institutions and are based on various indicators, including the number of faculty members and graduates who won Nobel Prizes and Field Medals, and the scope and quality of publications in the leading journals.

Among the top 100 institutions, 39 are in the USA, 9 in China, 8 in the UK, 7 in Australia, 5 in Canada, 4 in France and 4 in Germany, and 3 in Israel.
