Salman Rushdie's health is slowly improving after his stabbing on Friday, August 12, at a literary conference in New York State.
Stabbed ten times, seriously injured in the right eye and arm as well as in the abdomen, damaged liver, the British author of The
Satanic Verses
, aged 75, appeared in critical condition, placed on life support and operated for several hours after losing a lot of blood.
To the great relief of his family, he is no longer on artificial respirators and regained his speech on Saturday.
