They renewed their passports and got help: two residents of the north are accused of trying to join ISIS Israel today

Residents of Umm al-Fahm, Muhammad Agbaria and Abdel Al-Mahdi, are accused of conspiring to commit a crime and attempting to join the ISIS organization in Africa

- this was announced today (Monday) by the Haifa District Attorney's Office.  

According to the indictment, filed by attorney Yaniv Zohar, in recent times the ISIS organization has published various publications dedicated to the spread of the organization in Africa while calling for the migration of fighters and supporters of the organization from various places to the jihad arena of Africa which has become similar to the arenas of Syria and Iraq as well as the arena of The organization's central hub, with one of the organization's deadliest districts currently operating in the Borno region of northeastern Nigeria.

The actions of the accused 

At the beginning of 2022, in the shadow of mobilization around the world, the accused, Agbaria (21) and Almadi (21), contacted the organization's activists with the aim of joining their ranks.

Among other things, the defendants were looking for a contact person who could help them reach the battlefield in Borno province, where they would join the organization's ranks.

One of the accused, made contact in a chat on the Facebook application with various people living in Africa near Borno province.

During a chat, the accused asked one of the people living in the area about the ways to get to Borno district, while falsely presenting himself as a furniture dealer from Palestine, so as not to arouse his suspicion.

During the conversation, the accused received information about the possible ways to reach Borno district.

Later, the defendants met several times with an acquaintance of one of the defendants who had previously fought as part of a terrorist organization in Africa, in order for him to share with them his experience regarding the possible ways of getting to Africa and the ways of life there, as part of activities in a terrorist organization.

The defendants were asked to renew their passports so that they could leave Israel for the battlefield in Borno. 

Following this, on July 7, 2022, one of the defendants renewed his passport, and the other defendant began the process of renewing his passport and did not have time to complete it due to his arrest.

The prosecutor's office requests that the accused be arrested until the end of the proceedings.
