While the country is in the throes of violent fires and the soldiers of the fire lead a merciless fight against the flames, the number of firefighters in France is at the heart of the concerns.
On Wednesday August 10, in order to strengthen the system for fighting exceptional summer fires, Gérald Darmanin called on companies and local authorities to release volunteer firefighters from their professional obligations.
An initiative well received by Éric Flores, vice-president of the National Federation of Firefighters of France (FNSPF).
"Employers do not have an obligation to authorize volunteer firefighters to go on a mission, every day we have to use their common sense to convince them"
, he confides.
And this in particular in the regions which are not in the grip of the flames, where those who wish can make themselves mobilizable and be called at any time.
Already today, several hundred firefighters from seven countries…
