Because the Marzlingen Greens were later this year with the cleanup, more rubbish had accumulated in the Moosach.

The action had to be stopped prematurely because there was simply no more space in the boat.

The Marzlingen Greens discovered so much rubbish by kayak while looking for rubbish that it no longer fit in the boat.

Including even lubricating oil!

– Christoph Bergsteiner from the local branch of the Greens in Marzling finds clear words: “It really sucks!

You just don't do something like that.” Why is he upset?

Once again, the Marzlingen Greens went looking for garbage in the Moosach with a kayak and this time they found so much that the campaign had to be canceled - because there was simply no more space in the boat.

By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

Why people dispose of their rubbish in the Moosach at all is a mystery to Bergsteiner.

"I've never thrown anything out in nature, not even a piece of paper," says Bergsteiner, who is always there when boats go out on the river.

The sad result of the most recent operation: more than 20 piccolo champagne bottles, a fishing rod, a seat rust from a chair, a gas bottle, a completely filled large garbage bag and a lot of plastic waste.

What Bergsteiner asks himself every time as soon as he pulls another part out of the water: "Who is actually so stupid and doesn't understand that the Moosach is not a garbage dump?"

The kayak ran aground from sheer garbage

The trunk of the helpers was packed with the legacies of contemporaries who obviously see the Moosach as a dump.

Because the Greens were later than usual this year, more had accumulated in the meantime - so much in fact that the nature lovers had to stop after two thirds of the way - also because their kayak kept going aground due to the increasing weight.

Bergsteiner cannot believe the high point of the three-hour action afterwards: "Someone threw a full lubricating oil can into the water." "Lubricating oil in the stream is actually a criminal offence," says Bergsteiner in the FT interview.

The worst thing for him: "There are people who don't seem to care about our nature and who don't care what they do to animals, plants and ultimately to us humans."

The next promotion is already running in September

Because this topic is very important to the Marzlingen Greens, giving up is not an option.

As early as September, the environmentalists want to get back into their boats and meticulously clean the stretch from the Neufahrner weir to Marzling again.

Interested helpers are always welcome: anyone interested in taking part in the Moosach campaign is welcome to contact Bergsteiner by e-mail at christoph.bergsteiner@gruene-marzling.de.
