On board a plane, a silly joke can have serious repercussions.
A passenger from the Dutch company Transavia, a subsidiary of Air France-KLM, recently paid the price, as told by Air Journal.
After taking off on a flight from Rotterdam-The Hague airport to Zadar (Croatia) on August 10, the 18-year-old thought it smart to broadcast an image depicting a plane crash via AirDrop.
The catch is that the notification was seen by many passengers and some crew members, whose Apple-branded phones were still on.
Blacklisted
Quite irritated, the captain indicated that he would not take off until the passenger in question had denounced himself.
The latter eventually complied and was evacuated from the flight by the local police.
The flight was able to leave about thirty minutes late.
A spokesperson for Transavia said the company was taking the incident "very seriously".
As a result, the passenger was placed on a "blacklist" by the company: prohibition for him to present himself at the boarding gates of a plane with a green logo.
He also faces legal action.
According to him, the image broadcast was “a joke”.
It is not certain that it had the expected effect.
