Dozens of Palestinians participated this evening in a protest sit-in in the city of Tulkarm in support of the prisoners in the Israeli prisons, especially the prisoner Khalil Awawda, who continues his hunger strike for the 157th day, amid very critical health conditions.

The Palestinian Wafa Agency stated that the participants in the stand organized by the Palestinian national forces in front of the headquarters of the International Committee of the Red Cross raised the Palestinian flag and pictures of the detainee, Awawda, and banners calling for pressure on the occupation to immediately release him and all the prisoners.

The coordinator of the national action factions in Tulkarm, Faisal Salameh, said that the occupation bears full responsibility for the lives of the prisoners who are suffering very difficult conditions, and that a number of them joined the open hunger strike until their freedom and their immediate release, calling on the international community to put pressure on this occupation to implement the international covenants issued by the Council Security and the United Nations and activating humanitarian decisions against prisoners.

It is noteworthy that Awawda, 40, from the city of Hebron in the West Bank, announced his first hunger strike on the 3rd of last March and suspended it after 111 days on the 21st of June, but the breach by the occupation authorities of their pledges to release him prompted him to resume his strike on the 2nd of last July.
