China affirmed that the visit of the US Congress delegation led by Senator Ed Markey yesterday to the Chinese region of Taiwan shows the true face of the United States as a spoiler and spoiler of peace and stability.

Xinhua news agency quoted Chinese Defense Ministry spokesman Wu Qian as saying yesterday that the visit constitutes a flagrant violation of the one-China principle and the items contained in the three joint communiques between Beijing and Washington, a violation of China's sovereignty, territorial integrity and unity, and sends a wrong message to the separatist forces in Taiwan.

Wu Qian added that the multi-unit joint combat readiness patrols of the Eastern Division Command of the People's Liberation Army of China and the real combat exercises in the waters and airspace around the island of Taiwan are resolute countermeasures and a strong deterrent to the provocation of US-Taiwan collusion.

The Chinese spokesperson warned Washington and the authority of the Democratic Progressive Party in Taiwan that using Taiwan to contain China is doomed to failure, noting that “seeking American support for the pursuit of independence leads only to self-destruction, and any attempts or activities are inconsistent with the historical trend and with the will of all Chinese people. And it seeks to stop the process of China's reunification will end in failure."

Wu stressed that the People's Liberation Army will continue to strengthen its training and war preparation, resolutely defend China's sovereignty and territorial integrity, and thwart any attempts at Taiwan's secession and foreign interference.
