Today, the Chinese National Meteorological Observatory continued to issue a red alert against high temperatures, as the severe heat wave continued in many regions of the country.
"Parts of Shaanxi, Henan, Anhui, Jiangxi, Zhejiang, Shanghai, Fujian, Sichuan, Chongqing, Guizhou, Guangxi and Guangdong are expected to see temperatures ranging between 35 and 39 degrees Celsius," the center said, adding, "Temperatures in parts of Sichuan, Chongqing, Hunan and Jiangxi are expected to witness temperatures in parts of Sichuan, Chongqing, Hunan and Jiangxi." And Zhejiang may exceed 40 degrees Celsius.”
The center advised the local authorities to take emergency measures to confront the severe heat wave by suspending work in open spaces under high temperatures and paying attention to fire prevention measures and paying special attention to vulnerable groups.
In China, there is a weather warning system consisting of four colour-coded levels, with red being the most intense, followed by orange, yellow and blue.
