The police don't have such a mission every day: near Hallbergmoos they had to save an injured beaver from the railway tracks.

Hallbergmoos

– The engine driver of an S-Bahn, which was traveling from Hallbergmoos towards the airport, had a heart for beavers on Monday afternoon.

On the way, the man spotted a beaver that was apparently injured.

He informed the federal police, who in turn informed the police in Neufahrn.

Railway line closed for ten minutes

"A patrol was deployed and was able to quickly locate the beaver on site," reports police chief Robert Tendler when asked by FT.

"The animal was lying directly between the tracks." In order to free the beaver from its predicament, the police officers arranged for the section of track to be blocked for a short time.

Then the two patrol officers were able to save the beaver.

"He had apparently previously collided with the underbody of a moving S-Bahn and was injured in the face," Tendler continued.

After ten minutes, the section of the line was reopened to rail traffic.

At the animal protection association he met a fellow animal

In order to treat the beaver's injuries medically, the police handed him over to the Munich Animal Welfare Association.

After the care, he was housed at the animal welfare association.

There he even met a conspecific who had apparently been injured by another animal.

The two animals are now being cared for by the animal welfare association until they can be released back into the wild.
