While the Paris region is experiencing one of its most intense periods of drought ever recorded, the president of the Ecologist Pole at the Île-de-France Regional Council, Ghislaine Senée, wonders about the need to water the golf courses .
The former mayor of Évecquemont (Yvelines) does not want to oppose ecology and economy but asks that a global reflection be launched with players in the sector.

Should we simply stop watering golf courses?
GHISLAINE SENÉE:
We have to stop wondering if we should water the golf courses or not, but rather prepare resilience to anticipate what's next.
I think that we must bring all the territorial actors around a table in order to establish a large plan which would make it possible to prioritize actions according to the climate emergency.
In my opinion, there is not enough political courage on the part of the state.

How not to harm activity and employment?
We always oppose the ecological aspect to the economic aspect but of course golf courses support entire families, there is no question of calling that into question.
But that doesn't take anything away from the fact that golf is a hobby and that there are cities in France that are deprived of drinking water.
Water is the most vital resource for human beings, if there is an emergency, we must privilege the vital aspect over leisure.
What do you propose ?
If tomorrow golf is to become a seasonal sport, it will.
I think there is really a great reflection on the water to be carried out.
We can direct our investments towards innovation in the management of natural resources, develop the recovery of rainwater on a large scale... It is now that we must act, when the situation is in tension, not tomorrow, when we will be in a hurry.
