Drunk in the afternoon: police stop Holzkirchner (71)

The police pulled a drunk Opel driver out of traffic on the Assumption Day holiday in Holzkirchen.

The Holzkirchner already had over 1.1 per thousand in the afternoon.

– It will cost him dearly that a 71-year-old from Holzkirchen first drank alcohol on the Assumption Day (August 15) and then got behind the wheel of his Opel.

As reported by the Holzkirchen police, the man was checked around 5:10 p.m. at the entrance to Holzkirchen from the direction of Oberlaindern.

He faces a hefty fine and a suspension of his driver's license for several months.

According to the police, a patrol crew from the Holzkirchen police inspection stopped the 71-year-old's Opel on Miesbacher Strasse, not far from the entrance to the town, for a general traffic check.

During the check, the officers noticed a clear smell of alcohol from the driver of the vehicle, which is why a breath alcohol test was carried out on site.

The test showed a value above the 1.1 per mille limit.

Drinking alcohol is therefore no longer only classified as an administrative offense (up to 0.5 per mille), but already as a criminal offence.

The officials prevented the further journey by securing the vehicle keys, ordered a blood test and secured Holzkirchner's driver's license.

The 71-year-old is now facing criminal proceedings for the criminal offense of “drunk driving”.

As a rule, the driver's license is withdrawn for at least six months in the face of such "absolute unfitness to drive".

There are also three points on the traffic offender account in Flensburg.

The fine is usually four digits.

A judge decides on the length of the driver's license suspension and the amount of the fine.
