Days before the shooting in which Natan Fitousi was killed in Tulkarm by his friend's fire - an identical incident took place, in the same battalion, which fortunately ended without casualties.

Parents of fighters claim that on Saturday night a pair of fighters were sent to fight near the seam line.

Other fighters at the scene feared that it was a pair of terrorists, they fired into the air - until the pair shouted "IDF force", and the shooting stopped. The incident ended without casualties and was not reported to the appropriate command levels. The IDF did not respond.

Last night Natan Fitosi, a fighter in the Kafir Brigade, 20 years old from Netanya, was killed by fire from our forces during an operational activity in the seam line area, near Tulkarm.

Natan informed his friend that he was leaving the guard post for a few minutes to pray, and when he returned his friend recognized him as an enemy and shot him after a suspicious arrest procedure - including shooting into the air and into the legs, from a short distance.

About fifteen minutes later, the medical team and commanders arrived at the scene, and then it became clear that it was not an attempted attack.

The injured fighter was taken to Meir Hospital in Kfar Saba, where he was pronounced dead.

The Chief of Staff is expected to visit during the day the point of the incident as part of the investigation conducted by the IDF, which will mainly deal with the minutes preceding the shooting, the procedure for opening fire, the training for the mission and the last safety briefing given to the soldiers with an emphasis on functioning in the event of identifying a suspect.
