One of the few passages that motorized traffic in particular can use is the level crossing in Erlkamer Straße.
However, this connection has been cut since Tuesday (16 August).
Immediately after the public holiday on Monday and the completion of the construction site on Oskar-von-Miller-Platz, the municipal utilities opened a construction site in the area of the two tunnels.
Erlkamer Straße is expected to be completely closed there, between house numbers 5 and 7, for six weeks.
Said puncture is not only important for mobility.
In the area of the tunnel, under the road, there is also a concentration of cables, pipes and lines from the municipal utilities.
The current construction site serves to close a gap in the district heating network.
In the future, geothermal energy from the Alte Au will also heat up district heating customers beyond the tracks.
The supply lines have already been laid, now it's about the merger.
As Johannes Wenzel, district heating planner for the municipal works, informed on request, old water pipes will also be replaced, new fiber optic packages laid and power lines laid - since the street has to be torn up anyway.
Because the district heating pipes need space, the workers at the Bachl company commissioned to do so have to be careful not to damage other pipes.
Wenzel estimates the costs for the district heating alone at this construction site at around 200,000 euros.
Traffic will be diverted via Münchner Strasse, the Nordspange (MB 9) and the Am Ladehof municipal road.
During this week, pedestrians and cyclists can still use the zebra crossing where Bahnhofsweg crosses Erlkamer Straße.
On weekends, the plan is for the north walkway to open.
Motorized traffic will probably only be able to use the two tunnels from the weekend of April 24th/25th.
September, use again.
Asphalting will initially only be provisional, since the market community wants to equip Erlkamer Straße with a new roadway in the foreseeable future.
