Russian First Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations Dmitry Polyansky announced that Russia, unlike the Kyiv authorities, does not put any obstacles in the way of the visit of inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency to the nuclear power plant in Zaporozhye.
"There are no difficulties in any way on our part," TASS quoted Polyansky as saying. "We have been very supportive of such a visit from the beginning. We know that the Ukrainian side created certain problems for this visit."
He added, "As far as I know, the technical details are currently being worked on with the Russian side, as well as with the Ukrainian side."
Polyansky stressed that Russia, in the context of its own operation in Ukraine, is concerned about the lives of civilians… “The objectives of the operation were clearly stated from the beginning and implemented with the speed that allows us to save manpower and civilian lives.”
Russia had strongly condemned Kyiv's attempt to obstruct the mission of the IAEA delegation, stressing that it was doing its best in close cooperation with the agency and its leadership to ensure the presence of its experts at the station and to be able to honestly assess the sabotage actions carried out by the Ukrainian side.
