Banks lend less to households wishing to buy a home.
In July, nearly 22 billion euros (including renegotiations) of real estate loans were granted to them, according to an estimate by the Banque de France.
That is 5 billion euros less than in May and one billion less than in June.
The trend is the same if we do not take renegotiations into account: 19 billion euros in mortgage loans in June against 22 billion in May (the July statistics are not yet known).

Since last April, we have recorded a 40% drop in the production of mortgages
,” says Bruno Rouleau, president of the Professional Association of Credit Intermediaries.
Blame it on the new requirements of the financial authorities (the debt ratio must not exceed 35% of disposable income and the borrowing rate must not be greater than 25 years) but also at the maximum rate...
