Head of the Main Department of the Russian General Staff Igor Kostyukov stressed that Washington and Western countries provide support to terrorist organizations in Syria and continue to loot the wealth and bounties of its lands.
Russia Today website quoted Kostyukov, head of the service, formerly known as the "Russian Main Intelligence Department", as saying during his participation in the Moscow International Security Conference today that "the United States is training elements of the Syrian opposition and the terrorist organization (ISIS) to carry out terrorist attacks in Syria," adding that That “Western intelligence, through non-governmental organizations under its control, provides support to extremist groups in Syria.”
Kostyukov pointed out that the United States continues to loot Syrian oil and Syria's natural resources.
He explained that "these facts indicate that what the international coalition to combat terrorism is doing in Syria and Iraq is largely nothing more than statements."
Kostyukov pointed out that the Syrian Arab Army "inflicted heavy losses on the terrorists with the help of the Russian army."
Kostyukov indicated that the United States triggered internal unrest in the Middle East and Africa through the so-called (color revolutions).
"The situation in the Middle East and Africa is still tense and is characterized by a continuous series of internal political turmoil with similar scenarios in the countries of the region that ends as a rule with the removal of legitimate governments from power and the destruction of power in the state," Kostyukov said.
Kostyukov pointed out that the United States and its allies are behind the technologies of the color revolutions and the terrorist organizations that they formed to implement the policy of transforming the region, during which regimes opposed to the United States are eliminated.
