Russian Defense Minister General Sergei Shoigu reiterated his country's firm stance towards the Syrian people, pointing to the strong friendship between Russia and Syria.
Shoigu said during his meeting today with Defense Minister General Ali Mahmoud Abbas on the sidelines of the Tenth Moscow Conference on International Security: Syria is a friendly country to Russia, and our relations are not limited to jointly fighting terrorism, but we have achieved victory over international terrorism together, which was not achieved by other Western alliances led by the United State.
The Russian minister also indicated that the events in Syria are of special importance for Russia, as well as the reconstruction process in it.
For his part, General Abbas said: Syria's participation in the Tenth Moscow Conference on International Security confirms our stand by the true friends in Russia, just as they stood by us in the difficulties we faced.
General Abbas added: We are currently making great efforts with the Russian friends, and what has been achieved came as a result of the efforts of our people and our army and the support of these friends, expressing his confidence that the conference will come up with new decisions and ideas to enhance international security, which everyone must work for.
The two ministers also stressed the importance of continuing to strengthen cooperation between Syria and Russia with regard to continuing the fight against international terrorism and increasing cooperation in all fields.
