The Chairman of the International Affairs Committee of the Russian State Duma Leonid Slutsky warned that the inviolability of Russia's borders is a fundamental principle that no one can test and that the response to any violation of this principle will be absolutely harsh.
Commenting on the incident of a British spy plane violating the Russian border yesterday, TASS quoted Slutsky as saying, “A reconnaissance plane violated the Russian state border near Cape Svyatoy Nos in northern Russia, and it seems that those who gave the ridiculous and provocative orders to carry out this operation forgot how a British destroyer stormed the territorial waters of Russia and how Our border guards stopped her.”
Slutsky stressed that "the inviolability of the Russian borders is a fundamental principle that must not be compromised and must not be tested, and I am confident that the response to any such violation will be severe enough."
