According to the information, these elections will elect mayors and deputy mayors and regular and alternate members of the municipal councils for the 153 municipalities in the country.
The Electoral Council exhorted political organizations to comply with the Constitution and the laws for the Regulation of Foreign Agents and for the Defense of the People's Rights to Independence, Sovereignty and Self-determination for Peace.

Additionally, according to the call, also published in the official newspaper La Gaceta this Tuesday, the candidates must include 50% men and 50% women, to uphold the principle of gender equality.
For its part, the independent observatory Urnas Abiertas expressed in its latest report that the Supreme Electoral Council called the elections late to avoid citizen oversight.

"The delay in calling the elections, in addition to being a systematic practice, is a discretionary decision of the CSE that affects the possibility of there being a true citizen organization, participation, and oversight," said Olga Valle, director of Urnas Abiertas.

"It is worrying that citizen verification is omitted from the electoral calendar... an organized procedure to permanently perfect and purge the electoral register before it closes," Valle explained.
According to the monitoring of Urnas, parties considered collaborators have already selected the candidates that they could present next November.
