Homs, SANA- The Syrian Gas Company at the Ministry of Oil and Mineral Resources has started trial operations for compressors

Homs-Sana

The Syrian Gas Company at the Ministry of Oil and Mineral Resources has started the trial run of compressors within the gas compressors project in the Gas Investment Directorate of the South Central Region.

The project includes the installation of four rotary compressors driven by gas turbines, each with a capacity of 10 megabytes, according to Engineer Amin Al-Daghri, General Manager of the Syrian Gas Company, who explained that the goal of the project is to raise the yield of gas fields connected to a gas plant in the south of the central region. One thousand cubic meters of gas per day, in addition to the associated products of domestic gas and hydrocarbon liquids, to be put into investment during the last quarter of this year.

Al-Daghri indicated that the project contributes to alleviating the adverse pressures on the gas wells and thus increasing the productivity of the gas plant in the south of the central region, noting that the first and second compressors are in the process of testing, as there are two systems for cold and hot running, and currently cold testing is taking place and the turbines, compressors and associated systems are tested, to be run on hot Using gas and starting gas pumping operations using the first and second compressors, while continuing work on the completion of the third and fourth compressors.

Al-Daghri indicated that the cost of the project amounted to 80 million euros and 2 billion Syrian pounds, and it passed through several stages, pointing to the difficulties that faced its completion in light of the unfair unilateral economic measures imposed on Syria, especially those imposed on the oil and gas sector.

In turn, Engineer Nader Merhej, Head of Operations Department at the South Central Region Gas Plant, confirmed that the project is in its experimental stages, with the aim of raising the network pressure to reach the ideal stage of operation and regular treatment, noting the efforts of all engineers and cadres working within the capabilities currently available to complete the project.

Engineer Basil Mohammed, Head of the Processing Division at the South Central Region Plant, stated that the project aims to increase the gas productivity in the plant in light of the low pressures of the plants and wells affiliated with the plant.

Engineer Ammar Ahmed, head of the control unit at the South Central Region Gas Plant, explained that through the project, work is being done to restore the plant to its capacity and operational capacity, which raises the plant's pressure and improves treatment and separation processes.
