Thousands of Palestinian students are threatened with deprivation of their right to education with the start of the new academic year due to the Israeli occupation's plans to demolish 36 schools in the West Bank as part of its ongoing war on the national identity and the Palestinian presence to implement the plans of Judaization.

The Palestinian Ministry of Education warned that the occupation’s delivery of demolition and school closure notices is on the increase, especially in the Masafer Yatta area in Hebron and the occupied city of Jerusalem.

In a statement to SANA reporter, Ibrahim Melhem, spokesman for the Palestinian government, explained that the occupation’s demolition of schools is an attempt to obliterate the facts of history and distort it to perpetuate the lies of its racist narrative, which will fail in the face of the Palestinian people’s certainty of their victory, adherence to their land and their struggle until the occupation is defeated and the independent Palestinian state is established with Jerusalem as its capital, pointing to the Palestinian government’s keenness to establish Al-Tahadi schools throughout the West Bank to enhance the steadfastness of the residents of villages and areas near settlements, from which the occupation threatens to displace them.

Melhem stressed that access to education is a basic right guaranteed by international laws and conventions, and its prevention is a crime added to the crimes of the occupation, calling on the international community and the relevant UN organizations, particularly the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization UNESCO, to take urgent action to prevent the occupation authorities from implementing their plans to demolish Palestinian schools that provide educational services to thousands of students. .
