Petershausen is not in the metropolitan area.

Although the community is considered a so-called "regional hub", it acts as a transport hub in the north of Munich - with the second largest P & R car park (image) in the entire MVV area.

Munich/Dachau – The anger in the district of Dachau over the new draft of the state development plan (LEP) for Bavaria in the spring was great.

The plan was "completely unrealistic" and "arbitrarily" put together on the drawing board.

Dachau only middle center

In fact, the plan provided for some hardships for the city of Dachau, but also for some district communities.

The large district town, for example, should remain a medium-sized center, unlike Freising, Erding or Weilheim, which have a similar number of inhabitants to Dachau, but are classified as a regional center.

In practice, this means that when certain institutions or offices, such as a university, are distributed, Dachau will never be awarded the contract as a medium-sized center, but only the upper centers noted in the LEP.

Mayor Florian Hartmann commented in dismay on the so-called partial update of the LEP in the spring: "I see no discernible difference between Dachau and Freising, except that we are a bit closer to Munich."

Some cons

But the S-Bahn communities of Peterhausen, Hebertshausen, Röhrmoos and Vierkirchen also had to swallow when they saw the new plan: Hebertshausen, Röhrmoos and Vierkirchen were downgraded accordingly and removed from the scope of the Munich metropolitan area;

Petershausen, which always wanted to be in the metropolitan area, did not get this seal either.

As a result, the four municipalities are of course still in the expensive Munich area, but they are no longer allowed to pay their municipal employees a conurbation allowance.

"How are we supposed to find staff, for example for childcare," was the legitimate question.

In addition, it is easier for metropolitan municipalities to designate building land.

However, since in the district of Dachau only Dachau and Karlsfeld are considered agglomerations according to the latest LEP draft, but firstly there is hardly any space left there and secondly the infrastructure required for further population growth cannot be paid for at all, many people asked themselves: "Yes, Where else should there be densification if not along the S-Bahn?” Real estate prices in Dachau and Karlsfeld have long been at dizzying heights.

The protest has now led to a rethink in the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs, which is in charge of this "interdisciplinary future concept of the Bavarian State Government for the spatial order and development of Bavaria".

At least for Hebertshausen, Röhrmoos and Vierkirchen, a “pragmatic solution” has been found in which these three municipalities can remain in the metropolitan area category and not be assigned to the “general rural area” category.

This means that these municipalities can continue to grant a conurbation allowance and have access to certain state subsidy programs.

In Hebertshausen one is relieved

In Hebertshausen, everyone is correspondingly relieved: “We are very satisfied that we were admitted back to the compression area.

That was our big concern," emphasizes the deputy mayor Martin Gasteiger (FBB).

After all, after the abolition of the metropolitan area status, it would have been difficult to say to the employees, "From now on you will earn 300 euros less".

Gasteiger has no understanding that Petershausen or Haimhausen will remain a rural area.

This classification does not do justice to the current situation, "it is a relic of days gone by".

Petershausen's second mayor Wolfgang Stadler: "That's completely irrational!

Petershausen's second mayor, Wolfgang Stadler (SPD), fully agrees with him.

He finds the whole updating process of the LEP "impossible - also because it is so non-transparent which criteria are used for decisions".

If Hebertshausen, Vierkirchen and Röhrmoos, contrary to what was originally planned, remain agglomeration because they were already there, "then that's actually not a criterion either."

It is also incomprehensible that all communities on the S2 between Dachau and Petershausen are considered agglomeration areas - with the exception of Petershausen.

Although the community is considered a so-called "regional hub", it acts as a transport hub in the north of Munich with the second largest P & R car park in the entire MVV area.

"This is totally irrational!"
