The State Comptroller announced that he would check, among other things, the scope of the forces and their preparedness for threats.

During a tour he conducted this week at the Navy base in Haifa, State Comptroller Matanyahu Engelman announced that his office is currently in the midst of a review of the order of the Navy's forces.

Israel Hayom learned that Engelman told those present that the report on the matter will be published in the coming year. However, naturally, most of it may be confidential.

As part of the tour, Engelman visited a state-of-the-art ship of the "Saar 6" type and a submarine, and said that "the navy has very significant challenges. The gas rigs and the debate with Lebanon sharpen the great importance of the navy and the necessity of building its power."

Among other things, Auditor Engelman checks whether the order of forces of the Navy is prepared and ready for the threats facing the State of Israel.

According to Engelman, "We consider it very important to check whether the Navy's SDF is prepared for the many tasks that lie before it."

Just a few weeks ago, the Navy made history when, for the first time, it managed to intercept an unmanned aircraft launched by Hezbollah towards the "Shark" gas rig.

Disputes as to its nature.

Two of the three UAVs launched by the terrorist organization towards the rig were intercepted by "Barak" missiles launched from Ahi Eilat, a "Saar 5" missile ship that protected the rig, and another UAV was intercepted by a "Barak" aircraft from the Valley Squadron at the Ramat David base .

We will remind you that the Israeli decision to purchase Saar 6 ships was delayed for a considerable period of time, due to internal disputes regarding the nature of the ship needed by the navy, as well as due to the high cost required for this purpose.

The contract with the German Thyssenkrupp company was finally signed in 2015.

The first ship arrived in Israel at the end of 2020, and as part of case 3000, suspicion of tender bias in the purchase of the Sa'ar 6 and the submarines was investigated.
